01Who we are
Countdown2Binge ("the app," "we," "us") is a television season-tracking app for iPhone and iPad. It is operated by Cocoa Academy LLC, Florida, United States, which is the data controller for the purposes of this policy.
This policy explains what information the app handles, why, and what choices you have. It applies to the app and to this website.

02What we handle
We've grouped this by what the data actually is, so it's clear what never leaves your device.
| Data | How it's handled |
|---|---|
| Your followed shows Titles, seasons, watched episodes, archive state | Stored on your device. If you enable iCloud sync (Premium), it's stored in your own private iCloud container using Apple's CloudKit. We cannot read it. |
| Your display name and avatar | Optional and local. Defaults to a generic name until you change it. Included in iCloud sync if enabled. |
| Notification preferences | Stored on your device. Used to schedule alerts locally. |
| Purchase status | Whether you have an active subscription, validated through Apple's App Store. We never see your payment details or card number. |
| Show lookups | When the app needs show data, it requests that title's information from our server, which fetches and caches it from TMDB. Our server sees the request and your IP address. It does not receive your identity or your followed list, and we do not build a profile from it. |
| Diagnostics and crash reports | Aggregated and anonymous, via Apple's own tooling. Used only to find and fix bugs. You can opt out in your device's OS settings. |
What we do not collect
- We don't require or store your name, email address, phone number, or password.
- We don't collect your precise location, contacts, photos, or microphone data.
- We don't use push notifications. Every alert is scheduled by the app on your device, so we hold no device tokens and no record of which shows you follow.
- We don't build advertising profiles, and we don't use third-party ad or social tracking SDKs.
- We don't track you across other companies' apps or websites, so we don't ask for App Tracking Transparency permission.
03Why we use it
- To run the app — keeping your timeline, list, and watched episodes accurate.
- To schedule the alerts you asked for, on your device — a premiere date arriving, a season becoming binge-ready, a show returning.
- To sync across your devices — only if you turn on iCloud sync.
- To unlock Premium features — by checking subscription status with the App Store.
- To fix problems — using anonymous crash and performance data.
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are performance of a contract (running the app you installed), consent (notifications, optional diagnostics), and legitimate interests (keeping the app secure and working).
04Show data and third parties
Show information — titles, seasons, episode counts, air dates, artwork — originates from The Movie Database (TMDB). The app requests it through our own server, which caches TMDB responses so the app makes fewer calls and loads faster. We do not send TMDB your identity, your followed list, or any personal information.
This product uses the TMDB API but is not endorsed or certified by TMDB.
The only other parties involved are:
- Apple — App Store purchases, iCloud/CloudKit sync, and crash reporting.
- DigitalOcean — hosts the server that caches show data. Server logs, including IP addresses, are retained for a short period for security and troubleshooting.
These providers handle that data under their own privacy policies. We don't share your information with anyone else, and we never sell it.
05International transfers
We operate from the United States, and our servers are located there. If you use the app from outside the US, the limited data described above — essentially your show lookups and their associated IP address — is processed in the US. Where required, we rely on the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or an equivalent transfer mechanism. Your followed list is not transferred anywhere: it stays on your device or in your own Apple iCloud account.
06How long it's kept
- On-device data stays until you delete it or uninstall the app.
- iCloud data stays in your iCloud account until you delete it or turn off sync. You control it from your Apple ID settings.
- Server logs are retained for no more than 30 days, then deleted.
- Crash reports are retained in aggregate for a limited period by Apple.
07Your choices and rights
- Delete everything — uninstalling the app removes local data. To clear synced data, turn off iCloud sync and delete the app's iCloud storage in your Apple ID settings.
- Turn off notifications — in the app's Settings, or in your device's system settings.
- Turn off diagnostics — in your device's privacy settings.
- Export or correct your data — because your list lives on your device and in your own iCloud, you already have direct access to it.
Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal data, and to lodge a complaint with your data protection authority. Since we don't hold an account for you, most of these are satisfied directly on your device — but you can always email us and we'll help.
If you are a California resident: we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined by the CCPA/CPRA, and we do not offer financial incentives for personal data.
08Children
Countdown2Binge is not directed at children under 13, and its App Store age rating reflects that. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we'll remove it.
09Security
Data in transit is encrypted using HTTPS/TLS. Synced data is protected by Apple's CloudKit security and your Apple ID. Because we don't operate user accounts and never store your list on our own servers, there is no central database of user libraries to breach.
10Changes to this policy
If we make a material change, we'll update the date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continuing to use the app after a change means you accept the updated policy.
